This is the 2nd running event organized by us and this event will be much larger in scale compare to the previous event. The previous event "Taman Bukit Jalil Neighborhood Run", held in May 2008, was planned as a community project targeting to promote running and a healthy lifestyle to residents and casual runners around these areas. The organizing team had no pre-set targets to meet as most of the sponsors were friends and running mates. We did not plan to do any promotion but the participation (in term of participants, organizing committee and sponsors) was overwhelming.

Larian Amal Seri Sinar 2009 was planned much earlier when Pertubuhan Amal Seri Sinar (PASS) agreed to provide the fund sufficient to get the ball rolling. The title of the run was decided and the theme should evolve around what PASS does. "GREEN" was chosen and the emphasis is on "RECYCLING", recycling should be more comprehensively meant to include the 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). We have to wait till the event day to determine how successful we can promote the 3R, but for the runners, the event will definitely GO! GO!

One of the difficult task is to set the entry fee, neither it can be too high nor too low (we have no money to subsidize!). By setting the fee for the 10KM to RM25, the committee having some hard time trying to secure more sponsors to bundle a running vest and a pewter finishing medal to all runners so that it doesn't look exorbitant. By paying RM15 for other categories, the participants will most probably also receive a pewter finisher medal with an event T-shirt.

This event was planned very much earlier and the date was fixed on 15th March 2009 trying to avoid KLIM (At the time we were not sure this event will take off) and the Chinese All Soul Day. PASS managed to acquire the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the appointment was made.

Why is it so late to publish the entry form? Since most of us are active runners, we were all very busy taking part in race all over the country, i.e. Penang Bridge, Ipoh KRI, Singapore Marathon (Off course Singapore is not in Malaysia), Malakoff 12KM, etc. By the time we realized that we were very late to finalize the details, it was already "Christmas". The date cannot be changed for many reasons as some being outline above, so we have to work through the NEW YEAR to thrash out all remaining issues.
